CURRENT OPEN POSITIONS

Hydra Space is a start-up in the space and communications sector, based in Madrid (Spain). We

work from scratch, to develop our own technology and solutions.


We have fully designed one of the smallest, most affordable, and functional small satellite

available today and our own communication system, able to work in such a small platform.


We are looking for people who can help us keep moving forward.


General skills:

SATCOM COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER

  • Embedded software development (C/C++) of complex applications
  • ARM microcontrollers and Unix platforms
  • Data structures
  • VHDL/VERILOG programming
  • Link budget analysis
  • Satellite ground systems integration, deployment, and operations
  • Test plan design, implementation, and automation
  • Communications protocol design and implementation
  • Transport and Network layers
  • MAC policies, particularly in satellite systems (ie. E-SSA, ..)
  • IoT communication protocols: MQTT, COAP
  • IoT communications platforms: LoRa, NB-IoT, SigFox, …
  • Modulation systems. Digital signal processing: FIR, IIR, mixers, …
  • Security and encryption technologies

HARDWARE ENGINEER

Technical skills:


  • Digital and Analogue electronic hardware design
  • PCB layout design using KICAD or similar tools
  • Component selection
  • Low-cost, low power electronics design
  • Solar powered circuits and designs
  • PCB soldering. Prototype and serial manufacturing, including manufacturing documentation
  • PCB bring-up. Electronics and hardware troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Test plans design, implementation and automation for space and high-frequency communication electronics
  • System performance analysis
  • Electronics manufacturing documentation and procedures: logistics, schematics management, vendors and suppliers management, etc.
  • Data processing using MATLAB
  • Low-level C programming
  • EMC and space hardened electronics
  • 3D design and integration

TELECOMMUNICATIONS OR ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING PhD.

Technical skills:


  • Wireless Space Communications: Architectures and Protocols
  • Wireless network planning, dimensioning and performance analysis
  • Design of dense Satellite Constellations, including access scheme, interference management, data routing, network management, end-to-end performance simulations
  • Link Budget design and analysis
  • Wireless Physical, Link and Network Layers. Medium Access Control (MAC) policies, etc.
  • Modulation Techniques and Digital Signal Processing
